Maui Kids

Yes Mom and Dad, there are things to keep your little ones entertained. The following are some of the best and I give you appropriate ages on this Maui Kids page.

Grand Wailea Guests - Swimming pools include the Canyon Activity Pools, a 2,000 foot-long series of nine pools connected by a river and includes water slides, waterfalls, caves, white water rapids, a swim-up bar, rope swing, water elevator, "baby beach". Elsewhere, there's also a scuba pool, and the adult Hibiscus pool. Great for you and your kids!

Maui Kids Snorkeling

Maui kids snorkeling is fun and will depend on how comfortable you are in the water with your kids. I recommend for the young kids between 1 and 6 going to "Baby Beach" in Lahaina. it is safe due to the reef completely surrounding the beach and there is a little sea life to enjoy. The beach is sandy and there are always other kids around to play with. The snorkeling isn't stellar and this location is meant to be a "safe" location to get comfortable in the water and with the gear.

Maui Snorkeling for kids 7 and up. I recommend the Molokini or Honolua bay boat based adventure if they are comfortable in the water (see Maui map for more info). this is easy access for them to get into and out of the water. If you want a beach based snorkel than I recommend Slaughterhouse beach to Honolua bay in the summer and Ahihi-Kinau in the winter but only on calm days. Beach snorkeling is for competant swimmers only .

Maui Kids Activities

Maui kids activities presented in no particular order.

• Maui Ocean Center - fun for all ages and completely safe. A great aquarium along the lines of the Monterey Bay Aquarium. located in Maalaea

• Reef Dancer - Kids 2-72 will probably like this as it is a great view of the underwater life without getting wet. There is a diver that will interact with the kids and show you some neat things. Lahaina, 1 hour tour duration

• Dan's Greenhouse - Kids 1 and up will like the birds, monkeys and pigs that Dan's sells and it is in downtown Lahaina. Free

• Whalers Museum - Kids all ages. The Whalers museum in Kaanapali and Kihei is a fun spot to take kids to learn about the whales and they have some fun kids toys as well. Free Show. Free entry.

• Iao Valley hike - Kids 4 and up for an easy stroll of a hike to view a great valley. Check out the botanical gardens on your way out of Iao Valley. Wailuku. Free

• Warren and Annabelle's Magic show in Lahaina - Kids 4 and up are welcome to the first show of every evening. This is really exciting and highly recommended.

• Sugar Cane Train - Kids 2 and up who love Thomas the Train, tell me yours don't, Will love this very mellow train ride through the sugar cane fields of west Maui. Great for kids, so-so for adults. Past Kaanapali to Kai Ala drive on Lower Honoapiilani Highway. 1 hour

• Atlantis submarine - Kids 6 and over will love this real submarine adventure. There are a ton of fish, eels, rays and sharks as you dip to 200' depth. Start at the Lahaina Wharf and a boat takes you out to sea about 15 minutes to the sub location. 1.5 hours

• Whale Watching - 6 and up will like the boat ride and their reactions at the whales are priceless. Lahaina or Maalaea 2-3 hours

• UFO Parasail - Kids 8 and up without a fear of heights will have a blast on the Parasail adventure as the sail takes them flying high over the water in Kaanapali. 1-1.5 hours

• Helicopter - Kids 8 and up without fear of heights. Self explanatory. 1-2 hours. Kahului heliport. Expensive!!

Maui Safe Kids Beaches

The Maui beach I recommend for the young kids between 1 and 6 is Baby Beach in Lahaina. it is safe due to the reef completely surrounding the beach and there is a little sea life to enjoy. The beach is sandy and there are always other kids around to play with.

Launiopoko Beach Park just south of mile marker 18 on Honoaliilani highway from Lahaina is a safe beach for kids and a good picnic, surfing, snorkeling and sunbathing spot as well. there is a small protected cove that is great for all ages to enjot the water.

Kam 1, 2 and 3 along South Kihei Road is a great set of 3 beaches for kids. There are many different activities at each one including volleyball, rollerblading, hockey, basketball and of course all of the regular ocean activities. There are also lifegaurds at all 3 so they are all safe Maui kids beaches.

Maui Kids Surfing

Goofy Foot Surf School is one school your kids will beg to go back to and is a great start for your Maui kids surfing adventure. They will teach kids 3 and up who are comfortable in the water to surf at Lahaina Harbor and your surfing kid will love you forever!
