Perhaps nothing will be more important in planning your Maui vacation than knowing your Maui vacation weather and season.

Summer on maui is more crowded and better for singles and families.
Fall is slower than summer and there is less traffic, except for the week before and after Halloween which is usually bustling.
Winter is usually more rainy than the other seasons but the whales come from mid December to mid May, and the famous north shore waves kick up for surfing.
Spring is mixed weather, with some whales and crowded on spring break which seems to last three weeks due to various schedules.
Beach side temperatures range from 65-85 degrees Fahrenheit depending on season and time of day, but the top of Haleakala can get down to the 10's

The location of your lodgings will play a big part in the closest ammenities for your vacation. Read Cities and Towns. Pay extra attention to the weather. Pick some activities. Then decide where on Maui is right for you!

Do you prefer a hotel with all of the amenities, a condo, or a home for your family or a couple of families.
Do you want to be right next to the beach, or a couple of blocks away?
Search Google for Maui home and vacation rentals, homes are often less expensive than hotels. Check the links page also.
I personally like International Colony Club in Ka'anapali, they are small cottage style two bedroom homes 5 minutes from Old Airport Beach, and I paid 145.00 a night in October/November 2005.
Going to Maui for Halloween? Make sure to reserve a room at the Lahaina Inn for the best spot in the middle of the fun.

either Hana for a couple days, hike the crater or Haleakala sunset,
at least one round of golf,
hang ten if the surf's up.
You should have three to four days of no plans except relaxing at the beach and snorkeling.
